WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE

Our ground floor suite is wheelchair accessible. This is a spacious suite that can be set up double, twin or triple, with an ensuite bathroom. The front door has a shallow ramp and the ground floor of the house is free of steps and narrow doors. The ensuite bathroom is spacious but not yet fully equipped for disabled use. If you are interested in visiting, please get in touch with us to discuss your requirements and how we can help. 

AUTISM FRIENDLY

Kitt’s brother, Jimmy, is severely autistic, so we are acutely aware of both the lack of autism friendly holiday options and what it takes to create a comfortable environment. Jimmy loves visiting here, so we hope we can do the same for more families.

If you're reading this then you know how hard it is to go on holiday with an autistic family member. The change of routine is difficult enough and most holiday destinations are overwhelming. You could rent a cottage or gîte in the countryside but then you end up cooking and cleaning as if you were at home and it isn’t much of a break for anyone. Our alternative suggestion is below.

AUTISM FRIENDLY HOLIDAYS AT ESCAPE TO THE PYRENEES

  • When you book with us, you get the whole house, sleeping up to 10, even if it’s only two of you.
    There will be no other guests here, so everyone can relax.

  • Before your stay, we can do a video call with your family to create some familiarity with us, our house, and the bedrooms.

  • We can arrange to have favourite food ready for arrival and for every meal, from breakfast cereal to dessert after dinner (so long as we can find it in a supermarket, but we have six we can search).

  • At the same time, the rest of the family will enjoy their own fabulous meals, with a choice of breakfasts and a three-course dinner.
    It’s your holiday, too.

  • We will provide your transfers from Lourdes (20mins), Pau (1.5hrs) or Toulouse (2.5hrs) airports.

  • We can suggest days out, such as easier mountain walks with amazing views, horse riding, the fantastic animal park, or pretty villages. Our living room and TV (with streaming services and DVD player) are at your disposal, too, so favourite films are always available.

  • Our house has big, peaceful, safe gardens and is in a quiet village.

  • If there is anything else that will make your family’s stay more relaxing and enjoyable, please let us know.
